Exclamation Not Very User-Friendly.

I don't even think Devs look at these boards...but there isn't an official board (which I find very odd) so I guess this is the best place.

I find the in-game interface to be very clunky...very UN-user-friendly.
(i'm a newbie..so maybe i'm missing something here)

I find it annoying I have to type /invite and then the persons name...I should be able to right click that player and a drop-down menu should appear providing various options from trade, to inviting to a team or inviting to a guild, etc...

I also noticed when I select a target with my mouse I automatically attack it...what if I just want to see it's level without tabbing through a whole bunch of other creatures? Maybe double click for attack...

I'd also like to be able to alter the chat window to display (or not display in some cases) a variety of different informations. Like damage taken and damage dished out...
What i'd like to do is make my chat window show only team and guild chat...then make a 2nd much smaller chat window next to it or above it that displays local chat...

City of Heroes has one of the most user-friendly interfaces out there...

If these ideas are already in the game...then sorry.

1. type/invite, whatever... I agree w/ you. not all knows what command to type to do invites or actions. they should put it in the menu so the player will just click it and will see several commands w/out memorizing them.

2. about the mouse click the enemy and automatically attack, that may have an advantage esp. for warriors on the melee. Just click the other target and it will change the target immediately.

3. chat window. needs to be changed. there should be a separate window for 1 on 1 chat or guild chat. Sometimes the msg. is lost on the spam of traders and seller. you have to scroll back to see them and most of the time miss them.

You do realize you can click on a player, and then press the little (+) next to their name in the Party window... right?

It is like that... hit F11 > Control Setup > check "Double-click to Do It".

You mean damage reports in the console, right? Definitely a good idea but it MUST have an option to be turned off... especially if you play as a Fire Elementalist...

That's possible, although you can just live with the different and easily distinguishable colours, or just mute All talk when you don't need it...

Yeah, I know about the player thing when they are in your party...but when they are not in your party it's a real big hassle. For me it feels like comparing DOS to windows. Where I have to type out stuff to accomplish anything rather than just clicking once or twice to accomplish the same thing.:P

Basically..I'd like to just right click anything and have ALL the options right there in a little pop-down menu...in a party or not.

I try to only use the keyboard for chatting...I can get things done so much faster with one or two clicks...

Actually, I tend to do a lot with the keyboard, limiting my mousing as much as possible since it slows me down.

I almost never type in /invite [username]... I prefer to type the user's name into the party window and tap the + icon to invite them. Hunting for them amidst a million users can be really annoying, hence why I type.

As mentioned, you can limit what you see in your chat window to just those channels you're interested in. Tap the ~ key, then click on one of the radio buttons to enable/disable a channel. Sadly, too many people refuse to use the trade channel for trading, so I've turned off the All channel much of the time.

i think he is talking about invite yourself to the group.

ex.
xxx: GLF monk, invite yourself

the thing is that most players don't know how to invite themselves to a group. They don't know the command. Some people will help but there are times someone will say "Try to learn the commands NOOB." You just asked a question and someone will just flame you for not knowing some commands.

Just click the party menu's person name adder and fill it in with the person's name... You don't have to say /invite at all.

Sure, it's not very "I'm lazy and I don't want to learn how to type" friendly. The features will may be improved latter on, they said they were going to develope the interface.

V Or just listen to this guy O.o V

What? You've been playing for a week, on the board for a day and you think you can already make the judgement that they don't read these boards?

Yes, they do. Are you trying to prove yourself to be extremely presumptuous?

Go to Menu.

Then at the very top go to Customize.

Mess with that for a while and you will find you can change a lot of stuff.

You seem to be taking things in a very defensive manner...these are just my opinions and these are the suggestion boards. Or are only certain peoples opinions allowed?

I am simply more use to the click-based interfaces. But like you said..they are developing it so i'm sure it will improve into a more modern interface. No need to get defensive about it. :P

As for my comment on the devs. I keep hearing comments that it's impossible to talk to the Dev team...so I was basing my OPINION on just what I heard.

since you're new, stick with it. The interface is 100% customizable (check the Menu and the top where it says Customize and then in the pop-up window Edit Interface.)

I'm sure you'll find a way around the things that you can't modify how you'd like (I uncheck Trade in the chat log and that limits about 20% of the trade spam for me)

an easier way to invite people is when they spam click thier name in the chat window as if you were whispering them then highlight the name in the whisper slot and use the copy keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+C) then paste it (Ctrl+V) in the slot next to the + in the party window then press enter and tada!!!

sounds complecated but in actual practice its easy
